The Public Information Officers (PIOs) in the Panchayat are officials appointed under the Right to Information Act, 2005 to provide the public with access to required government information. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the timely dissemination of information related to various Panchayat schemes, financial matters, development activities, and beneficiary details of welfare programs. Upon receiving applications, they provide the requested information within the legally prescribed time limit and, when necessary, forward applications to the concerned departments. Through the effective implementation of the Right to Information Act, Public Information Officers play a crucial role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and public trust in Panchayat administration.
